FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What kind of work are you guys doing at
The Egg Plant (TEP)?
We repair, restorate, upgrade and customize
a wide variety of used, or vintage, molded fiberglass camping trailers. We don’t work on any other kind.
What’s it take to renovate a typical 20-year
old, stock fiberglass trailer?
Obviously, everything depends on the trailer’s current condition, and the owner’s desires and budget.
First, we assess the condition and quality of all
the trailer’s systems and mechanicals. From frame and axle, to insulation and cushions. Wiring, plumbing, and gas lines are inspected. Appliances are tested.
Let’s assume that all systems are good, the shell is solid, the door and windows are functioning properly. We first recommend an axle upgrade to include brakes, and often, larger wheels and tires. Next we assess the condition of the shell’s gelcoat and suggest appropriate
options. Inside, new flooring, window coverings and upholstery can turn shabby into fabulous.
My fiberglass trailer is in terrible condition. Is it worth anything to anybody?
Absolutely! Though thousands of these campers have been built since the 1960’s, within the overall RV industry, they are remarkably few and far between. We specialize in “ground up” customizing of these trailers. We prefer those that are little more than a rolling shell. If you’re selling, we’re buying.
I really love the work you guys are doing.
How can I get my trailer to your shop?
Given our location, we focus our attention on
the Northwest U.S. However, under the right set of circumstances, we might be able to meet you half way. Let’s talk!
